We held our organizational meeting at Trinity Church tonight. We had people from most Wards in attendance, and most of the Wards have been organized. Also, tonight we held elections for the Officers of the SRCC. The new Officers for 2008 - 2012 are:
- Chairman - John A. Lysak, from Ward 8
- Vice Chairman - Victor Davila, from Ward 6
- Secretary - Alexander Sherman, from Ward 7
- Treasurer - Frank Marazano, from Ward 7
We would like to thank Mary Jenewin-Caplin for her years of service to the SRCC. Mary served as the Chairman from 2004 to 2008. She was always willing to help out Republican candidates, whether it was for national, State, or local city positions. Her leadership was appreciated, and will be missed.

Next month, I will be taking over the duties of the SRCC Chairman. I look forward to working with the Officers and other members of the City Committee. There is a lot going on in Massachusetts this year, including a Republican primary for John Kerry's seat. We are going to need everyone's help in ensuring some Republican victories in these upcoming elections. For example, Springfield is a city of approximately 150,000, around 8,000 of whom are registered Republicans. However, we only have one Republican City Councillor, and no Republican School Committee members. And with Mary Rogeness vacating her seat as the only Republican State Representative in this area, it is crucial that we fight to keep Republican representation in our city.
